We are a small acquisition partnership based in the NYC tri-state area. We started 1186 Capital because we wanted to own and operate businesses, not manage spreadsheets from a distance. We are structured like a search fund but we think like operators.
Why we do this.
Most acquisition vehicles are built around financial returns. Ours is built around running good businesses well. We are not trying to build a portfolio of 20 companies. We want to find one or two great businesses, get deep into them, and make them better.
We are drawn to service businesses because they are built on relationships and execution, not patents or platforms. When you buy a service business, you are buying a team, a reputation, and a set of customers who trust you. That is something we know how to take care of.
We are based in the NYC tri-state area and focused on businesses in the region, though we will look at the right deal anywhere in the Northeast.
